Walther Cancer Institute Research Award and Scholarship Winners

Walther Cancer Institute presented $63,000 in research prizes and scholarships to honor the outstanding accomplishments and promise of very talented scientists and clinicians at its 21st Annual Dinner on Friday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis. Among the winners were:
Crislyn D''''Souza-Schorey, Ph.D., Walther Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Notre Dame, received the $30,000 Michael K. Guest Award for Innovative Research. A major line of investigation in Dr. Schorey''''''''''''''''s laboratory is the understanding of cellular processes that led to the initiation and progression of cancer. A second line of investigation involves understanding the molecular basis of neurodegenerative disorders.
Mijoon Lee, Ph.D., Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame, received the $3,000 Dr. Karl R. Ruddell Scholarship.
